"Parties and Nightlife." That is such a funny category when used in conjunction with who I am... I don't know why I feel the need to categorize my blogs. LOL. It must be some deep seated emotional issue having to do with the chaos I experienced in my childhood. It's probably the same thing that makes me clean my room before I go to bed, arrange my cds and books in either alphabetical or topical order, and clean my desk before I can actually do any work. It's not that I'm totally "type A," it's more like I'm "type A-" (A minus). But I digress...

Last night was so fun. I know I say that every week after Karaoke, but it seems like it gets more and more fun each week. Last night my friend TB attended for the first time since we've become regulars. She's actually the one who introduced me to Lefty's over a year and a half ago. She's a lot like me in that she's my age but acts younger (in the good ways a person can act younger). We laugh at the same stuff, tell the same kind of jokes, woo hoo at the same kinds of things... we're kindred spirits as Ann of Green Gables would say. She's a singer, too, and a participator unlike some can be at times (SM ). So when TB shows up to Karaoke, she shows up to DO Karaoke.

SM and I arrived a smidge later than usual and were greeted almost instantaneously by our faithful server, D. We were then addressed by the attractive bartender. Yay! We were not the first to get to the VIP section but ended up being invited to sit there by the ladies who occupied it. The ladies are our LBK (Live Band Karaoke) friends so it was cool. TB arrived shortly after.

There was a substitute hostess that night and she did a great job. G was very hospitable and realized right away that when she had down time during the singing, the coolest (and not to mention nicest) place to be was hanging out in the VIP section with us. We laughed quite a bit and truly had a good time getting to know her. In the midst of the singing and laughing we once again received EXCELLENT service from D. We think she's great and have vowed to never sit in anyone else's section. She's just so darned friendly! She even came over and chatted us up when she had a little bit of down time! We are so dang cool (not to mention nice).

BH showed up a smidge earlier than usual and belted out I Had A Vision of Love by Mariah Carey. I was impressed. There were some crazy notes in that song and he did pretty well. He is SO funny, and fun. He's such a stud, too, for coming in and being the token male. Thanks, SM, for introducing me to him. It was weird and cool how we were already connected and didn't even know it. Those kind of connections make for cool friendships.

Last night seemed to be a night of reunions and connections. Both SM and TB saw people that they knew. That's always cool. TB got hit on, too. SOME TIMES that can be cool. Some guy asked her to dance... She declined due to lack of dancing shoes and then later, when the guy was "hovering" too much she was thankful that she declined. He was a little weird. Besides that, he was a little too old for her, too. It was also a night of embarrassing Stephanie with regard to the attractive bartender. When he got up to sing EVERYONE in the VIP section was kind enough to one-by-one LOUDLY inform me that he was getting up to sing. Yeah, that was nice. Color me horrified.

At the end of the night, just when we thought it was time to go home, the attractive bartender requested to sing one last song. Ironically I don't remember which song he sang, but I do remember that he requested audience participation in the form of dancing and he looked directly at me when he said it. I'm not imagining things here, folks, I got people who can back me up on this. I also had people who backed me up last night as we hit the dance floor in acquiescence to the bartender's request. (TB took her shoes off to dance - I did too.) We got a whole CROWD of people out there... it was cool! Even SM finally said yes, too! YAY! We did our boogie thang (props to BH who was the flyest white boy out there and even offered to spin SM and/or me) and then when the song was over we chatted for a few, said our goodbyes and headed towards the door. I offered my normal farewell to D and the attractive bartender and as a group we closed the songbook on another fun night at Lefty's.

Here's hoping to see you there at some point - call ahead and if you're lucky (and cool and nice) we'll try to save you a seat in the VIP section. Seating is limited so ring one of us up early if you're interested.

I love you all!
