Divine Appointments
Current mood: Category: Life Okay, so here's the story... My "niece" Seana and I had planned a trip to Eugene to see Paul Wright in concert. Paul was playing a small venue and Seana was going to do some promo work for him at the concert. We planned to go to Eugene a little bit early, do some shopping at the 5th street market place, get some lunch, and then head out to the show. I had been feeling good for the past week or so after being in the ER the week of graduation. I'd been able to finish up school and grading, get moved in to the house, and had started summer off with a mild bang. I had even worked on my tan a little bit: life was good-ish. Before we left Salem I stopped by and got a toasted bagel and cream cheese, and a small iced mocha - nothing out of the ordinary - nothing that should have made me sick. Even so, I was feeling a little weird by the time we hit Eugene. We stopped by a little make up place and Seana got her eyes done...VERY PRETTY! Then we stopped at a sushi place to have lunch. Even before I took the first bite I had a hunch I was going to be sick, whether I ate or not. Sure enough by the end of the meal I was totally dizzy and really sick. I asked Seana to go get the car and then texted Casey a 911 to call me back ASAP. She did and I told her we were coming over, that I was sick and needed to throw up. Seana drove me to Casey's and I made myself throw up. I couldn't deal with the pain. I laid down for a minute or two but it was horrible so we made the trip to the hospital: Casey in the lead and Seana and I following. When we got to the ER there weren't a lot of people there but they still made me wait a little bit. I asked Seana to go tell them I was about to faint, because I was, and within 5 minutes or so I was back in a room. I told them what was going on, they asked if I was actually diagnosed with an ultrasound and all that, I told them I'd been diagnosed twice. They hooked me up to an IV while I did labor breathing (I'll be good to go if I ever have a baby) and then I waited for the drugs. Seana took off to go to the concert (with my blessing - she would have just been waiting around with Casey) and the drug lady came in. YAY! Then, Hailey arrived and she and Casey went somewhere...I was too high to remember where. Finally a doctor came in and basically said I would be able to go in a little while. But then he asked me if I had scheduled my surgery yet. I told him all the issues I was having and he basically asked me if I wanted to have the surgery. I said, "Yes!" and by the grace of God it happened! The doctor checked into a surgeon to see if they could do the surgery on Saturday and then I was checked out of the ER and into the hospital. Okay, so I'll tell you the rest of the story next time, I'm a little woozy with the meds right now. Just know this...my trip to Eugene was literally a divine appointment. If this had happened in Salem they simply wouldn't have worked that hard for me and I'd still have my gallbladder and the pain. I mean I still have pain, but it's the kind of pain you have that means you're healing and not the kind that says there's something wrong. Enough for now. I'll tell the rest later. Love ya, |
