I Can't Sleep & Casey Answered the Phone
Current mood: Category: Life My toes are exceptionally brown. So are the rest of my feet - except for the white stripe right below my toes where my flip-flops cover my skin. I spent more than a little bit of time in the sun today with the niece and nephews. We went to the Zoo on what was most likely the last "Two Dollar Tuesday" of the season. It would be an understatement to say that the place was packed. We couldn't even park in the normal parking lot. We had to park in the shuttle parking lot... along with the other 7 million people who decided to go to the Zoo today. (Well, now it would be yesterday.) We stood in line, in 90+ degree weather, for an hour and 15 minutes. There were no clouds in the sky and there was no shade... it was a smidge warm. That's how my toes got brown. They seemed to have some kind of solar-magnetic attraction to the sun. Thankfully my feet were already tan otherwise my toes would have been crispy by the time we left the zoo. Imagine little sausages frying in the sun. LOL. My face, chest, arms and calves are a little burnt, too. I'm uncomfortable right now... probably why I can't sleep. It's hot tonight, too. Wow, reading this back it sounds a bit whiny but I'm not whining... my tone, in my mind, is very matter of fact. I'm not crinkling my forehead or frowning... I think if I had a mirror I would look contemplative... I was a stud today doing the zoo thing. One and half hours in the sun waiting for the shuttle, 20 minutes in the sun waiting to get tickets and three and a half hours walking around looking at funky smelling animals and trying to avoid even funkier smelling people. Dude! Take a shower! Use some deoderant! I was sweating buckets but I still managed to smell fresh! My feet are a smidge jacked up after my little trek today. I need a pedicure but I'm broke. (Now THAT was on the VERGE of a whine... I admit.) Ugh, it's hot in here. I'm going to bed. I took pictures at the zoo. I'll post some ASAP and talk about the cool stuff the kids and I got to see. |
