Sundays...

June 1, 2008 - Sunday

Current mood: blessed

I love Sundays... I really do. For the first time in a long time (three and a half years?) I can honestly say I love my church, love serving there, LOVE the people there, love the preaching, love the music... It's amazing. There are days when I wish we could start each day with church. I know it would be alot of work for the preachers to do a sermon every day, so we could just have prayer and worship time and then head off to work. I just think it would be a great way to start each day.

Another thing I love about Sundays is nappy time. Sunday afternoon naps are wonderfully delicious! Today, after I ate lunch, played Gin Rummy on the computer, and dusted and vacuumed the room I just moved out of, I slid into my lavendar, gingham sheets and literally giggled out loud. Then I said, "Now THIS is a HAPPY place," and drifted off to sleep. Depending on how tired I am I've been known to nap for as much as three hours! When I wake up I'm groggy but within minutes I feel refreshed and motivated!

The cool thing about Sunday motivation is that I know I don't HAVE to do anything - after all it is supposed to be a day of rest - and because there's no pressure to "get to work on something," I find that I WANT to work on things. Today I wanted to work on moving in some of my furniture and organizing the Lemon Souffle room. Yesterday was the end of the month, however, and I'd promised to come out and reconcile the business bank statement, so I headed out to my bro's house to work in the office.

So even though I'm working at the bro's and there are always plenty of things to do, I only really have to do the reconciliation today. I can play on the computer and check emails and myspace... I can run upstairs and grab a bite to eat or talk to the kids for a little bit. Today the family was heading out as I was driving in, so I said a quick, "Hi" and "Bye" and sat down at the desk to respond to a couple of notes I'd received from friends online. Then I decided to watch this hokey movie I remember seeing when I was little, "The Bermuda Depths." I'd been looking for the movie for SO long and finally decided to look it up online and found it on YOU TUBE! Too funny! It was like 90 minutes long and I was able to do some busy work while watching it.

Eventually I got to the reconciliation of the checking account and yes, made a trip upstairs where I snagged some chocolate covered pretzels. Joshie stayed home so he came out and chatted me up a little. The family got home around 9:00 and I talked to MJ about meeting with her to go over some stuff tomorrow. Then Jordan asked me if I'd help him with some homework: type a paper he had to write on some verses from the book of Revelation. We spent an hour doing that - he had to do some research and figure out what he wanted to say - and now I'm done. It's after 10:00, I'm on my own time just messing around and I think I wanna go home and work on my room for a bit.

I'm telling ya, I love Sundays. Even though I was productive I totally got my sabbath because I feel relaxed, rested and energized for the week ahead!

I keep saying it, and I find that its meaning impacts me more and more every day: God is SOOOOOO good.
