Beth Moore processing...
Current mood: Category: Religion and Philosophy Last night's Bible study video was awesome – it was inspiring, convicting, humbling, and so much more. When I got home from church I was kind of full up as far as my heart and head were concerned. We've been studying the tabernacle for the last 7 weeks and I've been amazed at what I've learned but last night I heard something that sort of resonated with where I've "been" recently.
I don't have the gift that Beth Moore has for bringing things together the way that she does. My summary of what she said last night will, no doubt, be less than clear. But there were two things that really hit home with me, and I need to process through them.
The first is that Christ is in Heaven sitting at the right hand of God – and what is He doing? He is interceding for those who are God's children. He is talking to God about us, and together They are making decisions about our lives that fall within the will of God. There is nothing that goes on in our lives that God does not have a hand in. But it's not just that Christ is sitting there doing it, He LIVES to do it. It is His job and His pleasure to do it. He converses with the God of the universe about the daily goings on of each of our lives and it is important to Them. Beth talks about how Christ was in the garden praying that God would remove the cup of crucifixion from Him, but that He prayed more so for God's will. In essence He was saying, "Father, if I can fulfill my destiny without having to die then may it be, but if I must die then Your will be done." The point is that there are things in our lives that happen that God will not take away from us because they are absolutely necessary for the fulfillment of our destiny – His will for our lives. We are allowed to pray for relief, we are allowed to pray for deliverance, but ultimately His will is going to happen so that we can be made holy. In saying this, as Christ sits next to God the Father and intercedes for us, He is discussing these issues with God. He is talking about the things we go through and the things we will not have to go through. They are making decisions about what will fulfill God's will for our lives and what will be necessary to make His will come about.
As I percolate on this I realize that Jesus is sitting next to God right now talking to Him about my living situation. They are discussing what I need to become holy. They are lining up situations and details that are absolutely necessary for me to encounter so I can fulfill the will of God in my life. I can question things – with much care and respect, of course – and I can even pray for deliverance from things. But I have to keep in mind that They know it all – the plans They have for me and the things that will bulldoze through my life or pass it by are part of a much bigger picture that I may or may not catch a glimpse of. This is where trust comes in. But wow, Jesus is talking to God about me right now…
The second thing is that the process of salvation is ongoing. When we confess Christ as our Lord and Savior, and ask Him to forgive us of our sins, we are immediately saved from damnation and eventually, when we die, we will go to Heaven. But! We are daily given the opportunity to be saved from this world and saved from ourselves, and healed and made whole – that is part of the saving that Christ does and did on the cross. It is a past, present and future tense use of the word. In essence, we get deliverance of a kind simply by the peace that He brings us when we struggle, or the blessing we receive once we've made it through the struggle, or the deliverance He gives us when He allows a struggle to pass us by. We are more than conquerors! Not just over death but over every evil part of this world. Once again, this is where trust comes in. Beth made the comment on the video that even the things we have relegated ourselves to – addictions or chronic problems or illnesses or strongholds – all of those things that we have dealt with in the past – we can overcome them. We have to ask ourselves, "Do we believe the report of our past, our history? Or do we believe the report of the God of the Universe?"
I'm going to believe God.
These lessons – they have HUGE implications for my life. They bring HUGE clarity to my life. It's so funny how I'm always learning things I already know – things I've heard over and over again but for whatever reason they stick at some point and have extreme relevance…
God is good, and amazing and personal and caring and Abba Father… sigh. Holy Spirit speak for me... |
